USC Provost Frank Borkowski said the ------- " IA . w\/\n/Mr f rAOV? ClinK UIUVeiMiy 11(13 UdiUlCUCU uiuucjr n will ouvu areas as Residential Life Services, dining services and maintenance. Borkowski said this transfer will help lower students' fees, but projects such as dorm renovations will suffer as a result of the transfer. "In essence, this is a paper transfer. There isn't any external money coming in," Borkowski said. "This is a very key point. Funds are simply being shifted around. This means there will be cuts in some of the services the university offers." With the exceptions of USC and Winthrop College in Rock Hill, other state-supported institutions already have raised their tuition rates. Tuition rates at USC are $595 for in-state undergraduate students and $1,235 for outphysical fitness i "be careful ol e start of Session I, Lamkin coid water be ot a problem. until you're th er to take it easy at first and Lamkin ad^ t gets too strenuous," he said, during the su nd Thursday in Room 107 of out barbecue tnter from 5:30 p.m. to7 p.m. feasting main activity during the summer "This is not of the best ways to exerc i s e ^jme ^aj<;e . duce body fat. Borkowski said the university does not have any emergency reserve funds. He added the university has no more money to transfer if mid-year state budget cuts go into effect. "If there is an additional cut, we will have to reevaluate the situation and see if a tuition raise is warranted," Borkowskisaid. Borkowski said university officials have had no "in-depth, definitive discussions" on the amount tuition would be raised if the mid-year state cuts went into effect. "At this point, I don't believe anybody with any degree of certainty can tell if the cuts will occur," Borkowski said. "If the state mandates additional cuts as it did last year, we would have to reassess our standing," Borkowski said. "The key is the economic situation South Carolina finds itself in during the next three to four months." Borkowski said the university is asking the state for more money to maintain its current level of operation. in summer ' the heat." He recommends drinking a lot of tore, during and after exercising.
