Curriculum, Discussed By f By JfMLaFEMINA SUH Writer The USC Faculty Seriate recently discussed changes in curriculum, nominations for various faculty committees, and the resignation of Pam Parsons. One major concern of the faculty was the addition to the curriculum of a new course in the Art Department, Art 359. This course will be an "interdisciplinary combination course" 11 w 4 suppuseuiy cuiuuiiuiig two cuuibtb which have been dropped from the curriculum; Art education 100 and Music 110, an art department spokesman said. Faculty from both colleges voiced opposition to the change, complaining that th new course will not cover much of the important background information which is taught in the two deleted courses. Time was spent discussing a motion which would allow faculty members to submit final grades to the dean by "noon of the day following the scheduled date/' This would give the faculty more time to grade finals which occur late in the afternoon and submit them the following morning. ! j Catholic Student Center, USC j 1610 Greene St. Tel. 799-5870 ! Such a situation could result in students participating in commencement exercises without knowing if they will receive a diploma. The motion was passed, allotting the extra time to the faculty. Government and International Studies professor Raymond Moore spoke out about the recent resignation of former Lady Gamecock coach. Moore said that "high budgeted sports", which he termed "a bunch of non-educational nonsense," have no place in an institute of higher education. Moore said the university must have had some idea as to what was taking place on the basketball squad, adding that "nothing was done because she was a winner." Moore closed by urging the faculty to "be on the watch" for any further improprieties and to be more attentive to the actions of the Athletic Department. pect more at. . .
