Israel Sign Of Hop TO THE Kim UK In response to Mr. Richardson's opinion in the Feb. llGamecock, he has managed to distort the entire history behind the Middle East crisis, and has made a personal affront to Judaism. The Middle East crisis is not the result of the Israeli Jews or their so-called terrorist leader, but that of their intransigent Arab neighbors who fail to accept their right to exist as a free and independent people. These are not the first to deny the Jews a right to a peaceful and secure homeland. Jews were expelled by the Romans and Crusaders, and forced to flee to countries that never wanted them there. After centuries of forced exile from their homeland, countless purges and programs and the Nazi genocide the .Tpws returned to the land of Israel. Tell me, Mr. Richardson, where do you get these stories of Israeli terrorism and atrocities? The Israeli independence movement was no different from other long and violent struggles in Atrica, Asia ana me wesiern nemispnere. Whatever was done, was for the cause of freedom and nothing more! Why don't we call George Washington, Simon Bolivar, Lenin and Mugabe terrorists? Their homes and livelihoods are destroyed, and then they are herded into concentration camps where they are subject to humiliation, inhumane treatment and torture; mental and physical torture which, of course, the "civilized" Israeli Jews will arduously deny. ^ These confiscated lands are then used to construct Israeli Jew settlements. _ In the Sinai desert, tne jaeaouins are resincieu iu shuui villages where they can be closely monitored by Israeli military personnel.
