Buckley rewrites history, this time in his latest thriller, Marco Polo, If You Can. In Marco Polo, President Eisenhower discovers the Soviets have a mole in a highly sensitive level of government. How does he know this? Because Nikita Khrushchev, leader of the Communist Party of the U.S.S.R., quoted exactly from the minutes of a National Security Council meeting. In an effort to discover the mole, Buckley reassembles the characters who made his first three novels best-sellers: Rufus, the brillant spymaster; Singer Calloway; Anthony Trust and the dashing Blackford Oakes. who is allnwpri tn rr>ir>in din A ?v. ? v-juni niv, v/in anci being forced to resign earlier in the novel. With each succeeding novel, Buckley's writing has improved. His plots have become more realistic and at the same time more complicated. Buckley's wit is keen and he uses it to great advantage. 1 ^ IVI 1 1 Q1 Excellent su I'lUalL/ who are intei them in their those persons ind," making this song, and each individu, >eatedly while feeling a new 0ne must hav dC IIVII ItS.
