Tim Weisberg Has! By DAVID WOOTEN Staff Writer /v.. .r ii a a.?1 a -a ? * vire ui uk mini rcspecieu lnsirumeniai musicians ot uie past two decades has been the gifted flutist and song writer, Tim Weisberg. His latest LP, entitled Travelin' Light, shows p why the artist has become a universally accepted performer. Weisberg's album contains the cheerful, classical sound that has boosted the musician to prominence while encompassing a jazzy, almost waltz-like tone as well. Weisberg meticulously mixes his brilliant flute playing with other musicians to compose a sound that is delicately appealing. The listener becomes a part of the music without even trying to be. THE MOST noteworthy cuts on Weisberg's album are the title track and "Sleepwalk," the first single to be released from the LP. "Travelin' Light" is perhaps the most upbeat instrumental on the album, and is comparable to the songs of such contemporary artists as the Dregs and Steely Dan. i "Sleepwalk," a Santo and Johnny classic from the early '60s, sounds almost exactly like the meaning of its title, mysterious and mellow. Earlier, Weisberg /InKnf /\ra P A fU 4I*a U!#?U1.. mr; La ucuuicu wii mvn icvuius wiui uic lu^iuy-atciHimcu ivignt Rider and teamed with his devoted fan and friend, Dan Fogelberg, to produce the platinum album, Twin Sons of Different Mothers. Along with Fogelberg, his influences include such diverse styles as the Eagles, James Taylor and Earth, Wind and Fire. The band contains a number of ex-Dave Mason performers including drummer Rick Jaeger, bassist David Milner and keyboardist Bobby Wright. Lead guitarist and songwriter Todd Robinson has been Weisberg's right-hand man for eight years. THIS IS WeisbeFg's fourteenth album and it identifies the artist as a talented musician and songwriter once again. He moves his listeners with a soft, stimulating sound powered by strong melodies with a gentle beat. The laid-back, flutedominated tunes are easily recognizable and a delight to listen to.
