Given many of the nntential Droblems associated with an urban campus, the Division of Law Enforcement and Safety is charged with the responsibility for several areas. One very important area is the safety and security of the University community. More specific, this task is the responsibility of the University Police Department but they can not do this alone. Current programs such as Bicycle Registration Program, Book Theft Prevention Program, Theft Prevention in the Residence Halls, Lectures to student groups, training programs for USC employees, better security in parking garages (awareness signs that say 4'do not * i i_i leave vaiuaoies in automobile", 4'have you locked your car"). The establishment of a reserve officer program to supplement the existing police force.
