(Columbia campus) is
a community of over
25,000 individuals:
working, living, and
studying on a campus
located in an urban
setting. Given many of
the nntential Droblems
associated with an
urban campus, the
Division of Law Enforcement
and Safety
is charged with the
responsibility for
several areas. One
very important area is
the safety and security
of the University
community. More
specific, this task is the
responsibility of the
University Police
Department but they
can not do this alone.

automobile
2. Do not leave
valuables in your
automobile.
3. Register your
bicycle.
4. Loch your bicycle
with a loch adequate to

secluded short-cuts.

9. Report all thefts to
the University Police

always lock your car
when entering and
leaving it.

backseat before you
get into your car to see
if anyone is hiding

has been implemented
to keep the community
abreast as to how it
may help reduce crime
on-campus. Current
programs such as
Bicycle Registration
Program, Book Theft
Prevention Program,
Theft Prevention in the
Residence Halls,
Lectures to student
groups, training
programs for USC
employees, better
security in parking
garages (awareness
signs that say 4'do not

The establishment of a
reserve officer
program to supplement
the existing
police force.
