Gov. Nancy Stevenson gave the keynote address at USC's annual ROTC Awards Day Monday. "These (ROTC) students have made a commitment to defend their country in the proud tradition of America since her founding," Stevenson said. "Americans have fought in the defense of their home since the beginning. The ROTC program here at Carolina will help continue this role." Praising the achievements of USC's ROTC departments, Stevenson said their training program is important. "Many of th?se students are able to utilize these skills in later life " stwpncnn cqih "The fields of communication, research and other technologies are in constant need of skilled, college-educated employees. Without the ROTC scholarship programs available here at USC, many of these students would never have reached this plateau of accomplishment," she said. "For the first time this year, all four branches of the armed services are represented at this award ceremony.
