Lightsey, who replaced Richard E. Day in July, said he took the job because "1 lelt that I could contribute tc the legal institution of the state and to legal education" by working at the school. "I think that we can improve our relationship with judges and lawyers in the state," Lightsey said. His plans include sponsoring more meetings for the S.C. Bar Association at the 1 1 : 1 1 ov,iiuvj, c1i1u imviiig 5CI1UU1 administrators attend bar meetings. Lightsey said more court sessions will be held at the school for student observation. The schc I will also try to attract :ore visiting scholars, he said. LIGHTSEY EARNED his law degree at USC after receiving bachelor's and | doctorate degrees in | vtuerinary medicine trom the University of Georgia.
