Harry Lightsey, the USC
law school's new dean, says
he plans no major changes
for the school, but he plans tc
improve some of its policies.
Lightsey, who replaced
Richard E. Day in July, said
he took the job because "1

the legal institution of the
state and to legal education"
by working at the school.

"I think that we can improve
our relationship with
judges and lawyers in the
state," Lightsey said.
His plans include sponsoring
more meetings for the
S.C. Bar Association at the

administrators attend bar
meetings.
Lightsey said more court
sessions will be held at the
school for student observation.

visiting scholars, he said.

LIGHTSEY EARNED his
law degree at USC after
receiving bachelor's and |
doctorate degrees in |
vtuerinary medicine trom
the University of Georgia.
He has taught at USC's law
school since 1962.
