Tom Otts, Russell House director, said the renovations, most in the Student Media Center, were planned to improve the building's appearance. Matching door jams, doors, floor tiles and ceiling tiles were some of the major concerns. Otts said the music lounge is the most impressive change. He said the lounge will be a room where students can listen to music of their choice on headphones. It will also be a study room and an art gallery. THERE WILL BE seats, an eight-channel wireless headphone system, desks, cassette players, turntables, tuners and possibly a reelto-reel system for recording. Adjacent to the music lounge is a typing room where students can use coinoperated typewriters. The plan includes a studio where students can practice piano, | soMches. or soiinH and I lighting demonstrations. Most of the work was done by university employees, and much of the design was prepared by Harry Bousbourelis, technical services manager.
