Eugene Carmichael, "Mike" O'Boyle was last seen leaving his home at Broadmoor Apartments on Riverbend Drive to have a friend work on his car. O'Bovle called Christopher Clifton, who was to make minor repairs on jf O'Boyles' Volkswagon Dasher, at 9:30 that morning. He told Clifton he would be at Clifton's house at about 11:00a.m. I CLIFTON SAID he went to get the repair parts after talking to O'Boyle. He left a house key and a note telline I "Mike" to make himself comfortable. When Clifton returned at 11:15 a.m., the note and key were untouched. He hasn't heard from O'Boyle since then. Holderman e m I told the board of trustees Aug. 12 the administration is prepared to "live with full formula funding." f 1 0 That formula reauires that the Columbia campus be allotted more than $93 m- million, 32.5 percent more than the $68 million it received last year. Holderman pointed out that USC did not request this money. "These figures are dictated by the formula," he said. "We don't come up with them. "We hope that in the fall we will receive additional funding if we have an enrollment increase." USC HAS PROPftSRn flHHina inn ?r 140 faculty positions and about 64 staff positions. "We didn't ask for funding for any new positions last year," Holderman said. "The 204 positions represent only a 4.6 percent increase over two years. This figure is remarkably low considering the growth in programs and services at this university." In other action, the board voted to establish a Center for Child and Family Studies. The program will not grant degrees. It will be an administrative unit within a college. Board Chairman Markley C. Dennis said the board's Executive Committee tried to review USC's policy on naming buildings, but could not find a comprehensive policy. Medical School Dean Roderick Macdonald said this affiliation will greatly benefit the school. "We are a community hospital based Medical School," Macdonal said.
