USC1 by Eric Richardson The 3rd Annual Mr. USC Bodybuilding Classic, sponsored annually by our own USC Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Club, will be held in the Russell House Ballroom, this Saturday, March 8. This exciting contest will start at 1 2 noon with pre judging and concludes in the evening with the finals at 6:00p.m. Both sessions are open to the public. A special attraction of this year's contest features Mr. Boyer Coe as a guest poser. Mr. Coe not only has won the Mr. America and Mr. Universe competition, but he also finished second in the Mr. Olympia Contest, the largest bodybuilding contest in the world. What do the officials look for when judging a bodybuilding contest such as this0 Symmetry, muscularity, and hodv/ nronortion ari> thp thrpp main areas of emphasis. Symmetry is defined as the overall muscular look of the contestant. The amount of muscle and their proportion on the body are also deemed as important. To achieve the best results possible in the above areas, the bodybuilder must combine a strict diet with a comprehensive weigh tlifting workout. A balanced combination of proiwm, vnamms, anu uaruonyuraies is essential in the bodybuilder's diet. The actual physical workouts generally emphasize high repititior and low weights.
