Well, Valentine': Day means all of these things an< more, but it began as a symbol o only one thing ? birds! Salaries skyrocket HOLLYWOOD < \P> ? As the film industry glides into the 1980s in an atmosphere of prosperity, one unsettling element appears: those million-dollar star salaries. In later years, after Christianity had been carried to Britain, the Norman peasants confused their word "galatin" ("g" pronounced as a "v"), and the corresponding Galatin Day with St. Valentine's Day. Since "galatin" means "a lover of women," the day's association with lovers becomes a little clearer. Another theory is that Valentine's Day is a Christianized version of the old Roman pagan feast of Lupercalia. During this feast, names of young women were n,,t ? w1/ . The tokengiving tradition begins with children in elementary school sending cards with floppy-eared dogs who sweetly beg "be my valentine." Children grow up, and so do the messages in the cards!
