Defensive tackles Steve Bernish and Chuck Allen each had 12 total tackles, while Bernish had one tackle for a 14 yard loss and Allen had two tackles for losses and a fumble recovery. MISSOURI linebacker Eric Berg, who was named defensive player of the game,had nothing but praise for the Gamecocks."They came out at the beginning and just blew us out. They were well prepared. The no huddle thing gave us some trouble, but I think that was mostly because of the enthusiasm they put into it. They started out like it was the last two minutes of the game." Berg also had praise for USC runningback George Rogers. "I've played against Sims and a lot of other great backs, but I'Ve not seen anyone as good a^ Rogers," Berg said.
