I, along with countless other victims throughout history, joined the ranks of "seasoned travelers." I experienced lost baggage. Theoretically I should hf grateful to the airline on which 1 was traveling (which shall be nameless, but which does not service the Western United States) for showing my paltry two suitcases a good time ? they saw more sights on their excursion than I did. Had I known in advance that my luggage was going to Syracuse I would have equipped it with a camera and a pair of thermal underwear so it could enjoy itself and come back with lots of snapshots. However, grateful did not describe my state of mind at the time of the incident. After watching the luggage carousel go around for a solid hour, hoping against hope for some sign of my Carry-Tote and matching simulated leather soft-side suitcase, my friends finally dragged me to the information desk. In my catatonic stupor all I could do was scream, "I don't care about the $80 boots in the suitcase ? just give me back my BufPuf!" and mindlessly wave the two forlorn baggage claim stubs I gripped in my hand. The little man behind the desk was very nice (why shouldn't he have been? Ho had a change of clothes waiting or him at home). He gave me a courtesy toiletry kit which included a toothbrush, toothpaste, sho' er cap, Woolite, deodorant and ? nb and promised to deliver my suitcases as soon as they arrived in the morning. I grudgingly to',; his meager sub- ] stitute for my shampoo, cream . rinse, Neutragena, heat curlers, clothes, contact lenses receptacles, and scalp massager that was at that time about 3,500 teet / | c J ?*<U / A I ^ / ourvtru rHTQTO, \ Tossed Salad, \ or Layer Cake, \ I 1 2 oz lead Tea or PuncR' $3.25 f Regular line w HHBBBHBBHRiHHHfe >n vacation ahnvp mv Hirfv littlr* h??r?H nnH mumbled something about organizing an execution at sun-up. My luggage showed up thirty-six hours later and not a minute too soon. By that time I was seriously thinking of using a scouring pad in place of my lost BufPuf and disinfecting my blurry contacts by subjecting them to twenty minutes in the oven on Radiant Bake. As soon as my bags arrived, I lunged for the bathroom. Four hours later I emerged with a fresh outlook and a fresh outfit. I don't really blame anyone entity for the ordeal through which I was forced to suffer: I realize it happens all the time and there is nothing anyone can really do about it. But I have learned a very valuable lesson; the next time I decide to take a trip, I'm going to let the airline plan my itinerary. I don't care where I go as long as it's the same place they plan to send my luggage.
