The network is trying to salvage its pride by resurrecting the NBC peacock, like resurrecting a Phoenix from the ashes. Program director Fred Silverman, since joining NBC, has brought into your homes BJ and the Bear, Supertrain, Different Strokes and the little-watched Hello, Larry. It's enough to make a peacock look forward to hunting season. Silverman's programming genius will continue this fall with the introduction of new shows A Man Called Sloane, The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo, Shirley, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Eischied, Kate Columbo and From Here to Eternity. The show is slated for 10 p.m. SflturdavK (WIS-TV). which is probably NBC's strongest night with CHiPs opening the evening and Saturday Night Live closing it. Sloane could survive in that time slot since ABC's Fantasy Island has moved to Fridays and CBS is also airing a new show, Paris, in the 10 p.m. Saturday slot. The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo, believe it or not, is a spin-off from the flop BJ and the Bear. Claude Akins will star as the slightly crooked southern sheriff of Orly Hot Springs. This, show hat the luxury of airing "at 8 p.m. Tuesdays, which could be a weak time period for all three networks, with Happy Days entering its seventh season and showing a slow decline in last year's ratings. CBS's contribution to the time slot is California Fever, a mindless comedy-drama about upper-middle class California kids who can afford to buy hot rods in order to waste 95 cents-a-gallon lowsh When disaster strikes, whether it's a lost blind boy, or the crash of a small plane into the ocean, the call goes out to "240-Robert" ? radio code for deputies Trap and Thibideaux and their partner, jet chopper pilot Morgan.
