Workshop is great group of people working on thia and I'm ontimisHo "WE FEEL good about this show because it is a first. "We had to make some changes, of course, to make it more effective visually to the audience, but it still keeps its purpose." Between then, Mould and Shirley have much experience in theatre. MOULD HAS been with the USC Department of Foreign Languages and Literature since 1967. He received most of his theatrical instruction during his sabbatical year, 1976-77, in Minneapolis, at the Graduate School of the University of Minnesota, and at the Guthrie Repertory Theatre. His activities there included performing in more than 30 roles, directing over 15 shows and doing a lot of technical work. He has appeared in several Workshop Theatre productions including Child's Play, Shadow in the Glen, Vivat: Vivat! Regina, and Cheaper by the Dozen. Ronstadt From page II can actually hear her voice crack from the power she is exhibiting. Elvis Costello's "Alison" is next and is definitely the strongest cut on the album. Ronstadt's voice brings forth all the mystery of the song. Also, the song is the begin ning of some great saxophone and electric piano that is prominent throughout the rest of the album. Side two is where the weak points are found. Although Ronstadt has been great in the past on Warren Zevon songs, she can't quite get the feel of "Mohammed's Radio." On "Blowing Away," a song she sang back-up for American Flyer, she seems uninterested, as if the song was merely a filler. But even during the weak areas, Ronstadt is still moving. Just this year, Ronstadt gave up her secluded Malibu estate and is now in the process of moving to New York. The little girl has grown up. This growing up is probably because of the people she has been hanging around with ? Mick Jagger, Jerry Brown, Jackson Browne and Maria Muldaur (whom she does a great imitation of on "All That You Dream") to rtnmp n f?u; Wherever Ronstadt lives, however, she cannot escape being the queen of rock. She is still one of the few performers who tries new material and makes it work. "Living in the U.S.A." is a giant proving ground for her. Ronstadt's fans will be quenched ior a wnue witn tnis excellent album but probably are still waiting for another masterpiece like "Heart Like A Wheel" or "Hasten Down The Wind." Until then, Ronstadt lovers will Just have to be satisfied with "Living In the U.S.A.'11 om pagtfli-^. < "* * v, . " , Shirley has been a faculty member at USC since 1909.
