The South Carolina Electric and Gas Co. will conduct its annual test of the spillway gates at Lake Murray this morning, and high water levels in the Saluda will result, according to The State. Testing of the gates is required by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission as j?rt of its yearly inspection an<Tevaluation of Lake Murray Dam. The test will be completed by noon today. The gates are provided to spill water from the lake in case of a hurricane or extremely heavy rains. Last year the university won second place in the Southeast region receiving a $500 scholarship. First place prize is a $1,000 scholarship. Each entry must be documented and sent to ABC by May 2.
