Offensive on as Y azoos rol By LEROY WILLIAMS Gamecock Staff Writer A combination of balanced scoring and superior play lifted the Carolina "Yazoo" lacrosse team to a 16-0 shutout victory over the University of Tennessee Saturday at the P. E. Center. Ned Miller started the onslaught for Carolina with a goal 1:40 into the first quarter. Carolina then followed with three more goals that quarter, and the stomping was well unuer way. In the second quarter, the Yazoos scored five more goals to make the score 9-0 at the end of the Jialf. The third quarter showed Carolina scoring still four more goals, to make the score 13-0. Carolina then iced the game by scoring three goals in the last quarter for a 16-0 win. Ned Miller was the leading scorer for Carolina with four goals, Bob Fitchett had three goals, Mike. THERE WAS some cause for concern for Carolina because Miller, Steve Melia, and Dave Belfiore were lost to the team during the game because of injuries. This has Cebe-Habersky concerned. CAROLINA MIDFIELDER Roger Davis believed that the key to the game was Tennessee's lack of experience. "We had the superior stickwork," Davis said. "Tennessee could not seem to scoop up the ball when it was loose, and they could not seem to take advantage of many opportunities. Ttiey just did not seem to put a lot of pressure on us when we had the ball," he said. Carolina's record is now 5-9. Next weekend Carolina will play Clemson on Saturday and the Citadel on Sunday.
