Commission on Higher Education would provide that no member of the commission be a representative from an institute of higher learning. BOARD CHAIRMEN from colleges and universities throughout the state would lose their seats on the commission as a result of the legislation. Sen. Robert C. Lake, D.Newberry, introduced the bill to reorganize the commission and give it more authority over programs at colleges and universities for nearly two years. Marchant said, "It has not yet been formally decided whether or not board chairmen will lose their seats on the commission. Under Lake's plan, Marchant would lose his commission seat. The commission has recently passed a resolution which would allow the representatives from colleges and universities to remain on the board, but they would be unable to vote in matters concerning the schools they are representing." "The Lake legislation will hsup an impact on the higher education commission and I think that the bill will be improved if the board Resumes, Term papers.
