Ticket system changed By RAY COOPER Gamecock Staff Writer A bill allowing students to get two people into football games with only one identification card, was passed Wednesday by the Student Senate. Enactment of the bill, however, is pending passage by the Board of Trustees. The bill allows one fulltime student to get two people in football games with only one ID card. Students must still have two ID's and two fee-receipts before they can acquire tickets. This method was attempted on a trial basis during the last three home basektball games last season. KEITH D. NORVELL, chairman of the Student Athletic Committee, said he has had "extensive talks with the ticket officials and they have showed me how this system is not feasible." Norvell said ticket officials have expressed the attitude of serving the public first and then to take care of USC students. Ultimately, the bill will have to be approved by the Board of Trustees. Norvell said he is going to get his committee together this week and begin an effort to per suade the athletic department and the ticket committee "to give some positive input" to the Board. NORVELL SAID a recom mendation from the athletic department would probably be necessary before "(football coach Jim) Carlen in effect will make the decision," Norvell said. Norvell said, if the Gamecocks have a successful season, then it is going to be hard for us to get the bill passed. The ticket office will be trying to sell all the tickets they can and if this bill is passed the officials will probably think students will take up more tickets than they would under the present system. "It could take so long for this bill to get passed, the season could be over," Norvell said. In other action, the senate: -Set up a special committee to check on safety precautions at the Bates House Ramp. There have been six muggings on the ramp area in the last three weeks. --Heard from Sen. Abigail Stearns who said women in Columbia Hall "are in an uproar" over the decision to make the dorm coed. Stearns said the "executive branch of Columbia Hall was against the decision totally." She said, a poll was taken after the decision was made, and out of 187 girls, 85 were for the dorm change and 82 were against it. -Scheduled a meeting to decide if an investigation is needed to see if Trey Lott, SGA Vice-President, - neglected his duties this summer. If an investigation is found to be necessary it will probably be turned over the Senate Judiciary COmmittee.
