ALONG WITH a good beer, a steady girl and a few "crip" cours"s, a sense of humor is- an essential characteristic of a well rounded college student. Without a. doubt, there is an acute shortage of comedy at USC. Most of our entertainment on campus has centered on musical events and films. With music one just sits down, relaxes and allows his eardrums to do the work. Movies generally put a strain on your eyes and intellect. You can break out into a . sweat, strain your vocal chords and even slip a disc in your back while laughing. It's excellent experience. There have been only three outstanding comedy acts at USC in recent memory; Edmonds and Curley in January, Mad Mountain Mime in February and the Muledeer and Moondog Medicine show last week in the Golden Spur. THE MEDICINE Show helped celebrate the first anniversary of the campus Nite Club by packing the place Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Religion, soap operas, Watergate, sex, sports, jock, TV commercials, American history and even McDonald's - none were spared their biting humor. BOTH NIGHTS had capacity -crowds yet one performance was far superior to the other. Tuesday's performance was the most successful. The crowd was fresh, kind of high and ready to laugh and a part of every joke. The next night was quite dif ferent: The audience seemed passive from start to end. Puns caught the first night were missed by the second night's crowd. THERE APPEARED to be two reasons for this docile attitude. A large percentage of the Wednesday crowd were present at the per formance the night before. As a result, the punch lines came as no surprise to them Without a doubt, though, "'The Muledeer and Moondog Medicine Show" was a plus for USC.
