Graduate student Steve Campbell, of Washington, D. C. was the first loyal Gamecock to show up and he said, "I have never v slept out before but it will be worth it. a Surprisingly, not only people who had 8 a.m. pick-up times were ? sleeping out. There were also lines forming by 9 p.m. Tuesday for e those who had 9:30 and 11 a.m. pick- ? up times. c The crowd, which was well over persons by I a.m., used many t ways to keep warm throughout the night. Playing cards, football and frisbee were favorites, and the great American sport of beer Z drinking Was used. Coliseum at 8 a. m. 3y 9 a. m. the ticket allotment for enior and junior lines ran out . rvin Woods, in charge of ticket listribution, said, "We have to iave ticket controls or all the ickets would run out in the first wo time slots." Three hundred tickets were illowed each class per time slot. )verall 5,800 students tickets were vailable for the game. Of course, vhen some of the people who had lept out all night were turned way without getting tickets, empers flared. There were cries f "I pay my activities fee and I eserve tickets just like anybody lse." Students who were closed ut of the eight o'clock line ould move to the end of the next me period line and get tickets if here were any remaining. For some people, the waiting >rought back memories. Graduate tudents Steve Sparrow and Steve agoria remembered sleeping out r tickets when Carolina was in ie ACC. They remembered that iree years ago many students lept out for each of the last four ames of the season.
