Suppression, Repression By Gin Cordova Within an hour and behind closed doors a new president was elected. How many of you even realized this until after the fact? Did you have any voice, feeling or word for this action? How many well qualified professors, with strong student backing, have found their jobs terminated without a good solid reason from the administrators? Have you not seen or participated in petitions to keep these professors on campus? Do we not have the right to have a voice on the type of education we receive and pay for? Doesn't a professor have the right to teach the best way he knows how? Are the students and faculty of USC not mute puppets of administrative tactics held behind secret walls with no real desire to hear the student voice? It seems as though students and faculty have the right to delineate their feelings about the election of such a vital administrative position. Note this position has great influence on the direction our campus will head. Do you realize how suppressed and repressed our campus has been? It is the blatant, dictatorial, bureaucratic maneuvers that have stifled progressive change within the bounds of the university and our society. Passive acceptance of these maneuvers leads to intellectual and cultural death. These are the kinds of things that culminated in the Watergate affair, which was also "behind closed doors" tactics. We must, as citizens and as individuals, use our democratic rights to their utmost fulfillment. A loud cry is being made. Are you willing to hear it ??? Where are your values? Are you willing to act to preserve them? Studen Spri - Feb. 18-19, - Feb. 25, Can ELECTIONS - March 4, Ele - March 6, 1st - March 8, 2n4 - April 1, Inai P.
