Layden 'Poor Of' BY GEORGE MORRIS Sports Writer Frank Layden, head coach of Niagara University's basketball team, expressed fears for Carolina's future home op ponents because of what he terms incompetent officiating at Carolina Coliseum. Layden's statement came after his club absorbed an 85-60 defeat to the Gamecocks last Wednesday at the Coliseum. "I can't see teams coming back with the inferior officiating here," Layden said. "I'm afraid for their opponents. I came as close as I've ever come to taking my team off the floor, and the only reason I didn't was because it might embarrass Coach McGuire and South Carolina. These are great people here, it'a a first-class operation, but the officiating was Mickey Mouse."
