Intramurals Seek Girl Participation Women living off campus have been invited to participate more actively in the university's in tramural department. "A lot of townwomen just do not know anything about women's intramurals," she commented. The first half of the game was a bruising battle as each team hit hard and played .excellent defensive rugby. An indication of the roughness of play was the in jury that Muir suffered. Usually a player that does not get injured, Muir took a stiff blow in the ribs that would have put most people out of the game. A mismatch in size occurred as a large Clemson back ran over a much smaller Carolina player for a try. The Gamecocks came out a different team as the second half began. Carolina got the ball and with only a minute gone Muir scored on a 35-yard penalty kick. This made the score 4-3. At the -midway point in the final half Muir took off on a 35-yard jaunt to put Carolina into the lead to stay, 7-4. Coach Helen Timmermqns squad has been practicing for weeks in anticipation of a six-meet schedule and perhaps repeating as the state champions, an honor the ;girls took last season. "I don't plan on cutting anyone," Timmermans said of her 20 hopefuls, "but they probably won't all compete throughout the season. Swimmers Hold Meet Tonight USC's swimming team will hold its annual intra-squad meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the USC swimming pool. The Gamecock squad will be divided evenly for the Garnet and Black meet with Ed Tyler and Nick Kesserling captaining the two sides. The regular swimming season will open Dec. 1 when the Gamecocks face Georgia Southern on the road.
