Georgia Southern put an end to USC's seven-game winning - streak Friday afternoon when t the Eagles bested Carolina 12-4 i in the initial contest of a day night doubleheader. Carolina rebounded to take the nightcap 9-5, but the USC squad again fell victim the next evening as Clemson rode a late-rally past them, 9-5. . Carolina's record on the sea son is now 23-14 with four scheduled games remaining after the examination period. By splitting the doubleheader with Georgia Southern, USC managed a split of the season series with the highly ranked Eagles, each team earning two victories. In the opener Friday, the Eagles soared to an early lead, scoring ten runs in the first two innings, and easily claimed the contest. USC pounded out 11 hits in the opener and 14 in the second game against the Eagles to make the high scoring games a direct contrast to the Gamecocks meeting with t Southern earlier this year, when pitching prevailed. In the second game, USC enjoyed its best single inning production of the season when the Gamecocks ripped out eight runs in the third inning to set up a 9-5 victory.
