Georgia Southern put an end
to USC's seven-game winning
- streak Friday afternoon when
t the Eagles bested Carolina 12-4
i in the initial contest of a day
night doubleheader. Carolina
rebounded to take the nightcap
9-5, but the USC squad again fell
victim the next evening as
Clemson rode a late-rally past
them, 9-5. .
Carolina's record on the sea

the Eagles soared to an early
lead, scoring ten runs in the
first two innings, and easily
claimed the contest.
USC pounded out 11 hits in the
opener and 14 in the second
game against the Eagles to
make the high scoring games a
direct contrast to the
Gamecocks meeting with

when pitching prevailed.
In the second game, USC
enjoyed its best single inning
production of the season when
the Gamecocks ripped out eight
runs in the third inning to set
up a 9-5 victory. John Gambrell,
the leading hitter for USC,
punched out two singles in the
inning and Steve King and
