G. B. Manning which establishes a commission to study the rules affecting students at USC and will codify the laws. David L. Spinazzolo, student body presi lent, agrees with the concept of the condification of laws but lisagrees With the financing of he commission. An allocation of $4,000 is proposed for the conduction of :he study. The bill stipulates :hat two commissioners would )e paid $100 per week and the :hairman of the commission vould receive $125 per week or the duration of the summer. kn expense account of $100 also s stipulated in the bill. Tennis, Anyone? Many students have voiced con cern that so much of their activity fees have been spent for athletics, especially for the football and bas ketball teams. But women and tennis have been neglected. That is, up until now. According to the Student Affairs Office which keeps records and approves expenditures made by University organizations, one dozen tennis balls were purchased by the Women's Recreation Association for $83.20. 'resident -Inances Spinazzolo said codification is needed, but he thinks the job could be done at "far less expense" to the student body because $4,000 is an "excessive amount of money." Spinazzolo proposed that the student government spend $2,000 instead of $4,000 for the study. He also suggested the commission be cut from three members to two. Spinazzolo pointed out that the amended amount of $2,000 is still in excess of any of thegtipends paid to any student body officer for the same period of time. Spinazzolo said the bill's sup porters contend the money is in the budget, so why not spend it, but he calls such spending "wasteful." Spinazzolo said this excess money could be used to fund some student organizations which did not receive full fund ing. The $100 expense account will cover such things as paper, telephone bills and secretaries. Spinazzolo believes that expense involved in the com mission will exceed this amount. Spinazzolo pointed out with the expense account, the time of student governments's secretary and other student government personnel and facilities, the total cost of the :ommission will be more than p5,000. Spinazzolo said if the Senate lid not amend the bill he would 'in all conscience be forced to reto the bill." Spinazzolo added hat he felt sure that the Senate vould try to override his veto.
