Burns said he would like to channel his efforts toward solving the problems of exam scheduling and parking Also high on Burns' list are housing contracts and registration. Cannon said he was running a "radical type platform," because other ways have done no good. He saidithe student government had to "stop being nice" to get the things they want. Dan Eckstrom, a junior interna tional studies major with a 2.9 grade point ratio, is conducting "a poll ot every student on this campus to find out exactly what the problems are.' Eckstrom said his administration would place emphasis on the little problems revealed in this poll. Pete Feheley, a senior journalism major with a 3.1 grade point ratio, said that students should be represented on the USC Board of Trustees. Feheley said the Board should have at least one voting student member on the Board, and preferably two voting members. Feheley also said that the University has misplaced its priorities. He said the administration "worries about tomorrows students and ignores today's students." The administration, he said, nals spends money cntraet F N . V 4 Angie Watson r will face after graduation. Harry Hope, a journalism major who does not know his academic status or his grade point ratio said his platform was "to abolish SGA, grab the student money and run." Hope said he was "very serious" about this campaign. He "wants the office because he wants the money and the free liquor." Rita McKinney, a junior journalism major with a 3.4 grade point ratio, advocates switching the Student Gov ernment we have now to a University Governance. Under University Gover nance, three groups of people -students, faculty and staff- are com bined into one legislative body. McKin ney said this form of government gives students a "direct say in the decision making" and a "direct input' into Stu dent Government. She said University Governance had been tried in other universities in the nation and all the results had been favorable. McKinney said this form of government "does not take away any power" from any one group of people; it simply allows the students to participate in the decision making process.
