Let To The Editor: I am asking your cooperatior in printing this letter so that l may reach the general student population. I am attempting to accumulate some meaningful data for a serious study on American communes. To that end, I wish to reach as many communes as possible. I will be grateful if students, graduate and under-graduate, who are living in communal situations, will write me indicating willingness to receive a questionnaire and or to be interviewed. Size of com mune is unimportant; 3 or 4 people, up to any number. Mae T. Then 3 unidentified persons walked in. "I want ping pong equip ment." "Sorry at 3:00 the house rules say gameroom closed." "What?" "The people on the floor above can't sleep with the noise." "We won't make any noise." "I'm sorry, but I just asked 20 residents to get out of said gameroom and why and they lis tened and agreed that the rule was valid-etc. "Do you know who I am?" "No, I don't." "I'm Pete Feheley the presi dent of this dorm and I have a key; give me some equipmeht." "I'm sorry, but." Paul T. "Pete" Feheley walked around the counter and took some equipment. ' "I wrote the rules. I do what I want around here." "But the people upstairs really did come down to com plain of the noise and everyone else complies." Pete Feheley addressing two unidentified associates said. "Who is this creep?" The president played ping pong at 3:45 a.m. I phoned in my report to Pat Dugan the resident assistant and the campus police station. The rules had been violated by the "President" of Bates House and all was not well on the western front. The question is should the president who assisted in writ ing the rules be exempt from their arbitrary enforcement? Let's hear it from the sheep. BABA, the creep CHARLES B. BORTON To The Editor: Dear People, .Hear my plea! I humbly implore you to listen to my NEW SHIP All Colors of CORDUROY 13 Heavy Denim WIDE BELl Brushed or Blue Denim JA MOEI1 AND BRIT Corner lad Editor tragic tale of woe. I am a kum quat trapped in a human body. Due to a cruel quirk (nothing to do with homosexuality) of fate I have been raised a human being when I should have been a sapling. Only now am I able to blossom forth into my true, natural state. My botanist has me on the road of self awareness. I can now declare myself a fruit with no shame. Although the metamorphasis is near completion, I still must stand with my feet firmly planted in a buckey of mulch for two hours and take 60 milirams of vitagrow everyday. I sympathize with "Julie's" plight, but she has it easy com pared to me. "She" is at least in her own species, while I am not even in the right family! But there is hope, for me, for "Julie", for all changelings. As long as we have the Gamecock to lend a sympathetic ear, and to foist up us upon and uncaring public, our true, if boring tales can be told. Let me close with a plea for understanding and a call for others like me to cast off their hideous identities and to spread their limbs and drink in the sun. And, in the meantime, do us all a favor. Curb your dogs. Pres. Robert J. Fowler Vice-pres. Paul D. Lyons Popular United Society Law School From Page 3 opportunity to be discriminatory." Dean Foster said a professor's grading is "not affected by any per sonal prejudices." He said the reason for the problem is to be found in the dificiencies of the stu dents. "We had to make a decision as to whether we would admit disadvan taged people under dual admissions standards. We did it because through federal moneys the prog ram sponsored by the ABA and Association of American Law Schools provided the resources to make an effort and give greater opportunity." "It might be a close decision but once admitting them the obligation becomes greater to cont inue these opportunities." Thus the situation at USC's law school is seen as a student difi ciency by one group, a communica tion problem by another and dis crimination by others. No matter what, it will all end as in the past with another handful of blacks entering South South Carolina's predominantly white legal profession.
