Trustees meeting met
dissent Monday from
Robert Pierce, managing
editor of "The State"
who objected to an
executive session on
behalf of Columbia New
spapers Inc.
Pierce said excluding
press from meetings
dealing with "Confiden
tiality of Personnel
Records" was not valid
under the 1972 Freedom
of Information Act.
It was conjectured
that the board would be
discussing football

Mungo said nothing
was discussed in the
meeting about Dietzel's
contract that could not
have been made public.
"In my opinion Coach
Dietzel will voluntarily
make public the terms of
his contract." Mungo
said that since Dietzel
has already partially dis
closed some of the con
tract's terms there was
no reason for the board
to withhold full dis
closure. "In the long run
we're going to have to
open these meetings up
anyway," Mungo said.
In its open session the
board discussed eight
items on its agenda.
