Senate; A bill calling for the installa tion of bulletin boards in stu dent parking lots in order to "im prove Student Government com munications with commuting students" was passed during Student Senate Wednesday night. Coliseum lot one, the Pickens lot at Pickens and Senate, the parking garage and possibly the Russell House lot will all have boards installed. Senator Allen Lawhead, author of the bill, pointed out in discussion that "When 63 per cent of the student body is living off campus and uninformed you can't possibly have an effective student government. These boards will help everybody." A recent Student Senate resolution calling for more cam pus lighting brought a response from Dean for Student Activities Robert Alexander. Alexander quoted Vice President Brunton on current lighting develop ments: lighting will be installed as soon as possible in both the Freshman quadrangle and the new ramp at Russell House. The Pickens pedestrian mall con struction will prohibit any new lighting behind McKissick for the present, and studies are underway for lighting on the stairway between McBryde and University Terrace and around Melton Observatory beside McKissick. Senator Paula Kress introduced a resolution asking the Housing Office to review its policy of holding students to their dormitory contract by threatening loss of their fifty dollar deposit. The Union office released the fol lowing statement on Wednesday: The film, "I Am Curious (Yellow)", will not be shown Friday, December 1, 1972 due to unforseen legal circumstances. The film was ruled obscene by the Maryland State Board of Censors in October of 1970. An appeal was then made to the United States Supreme Court which affirmed the decision of the Maryland State Board. Jim Paris, manager of the kitchen in the Gamecock Room, said that the new theatre ropes now in place came as a result of students asking for more organization. It has been instituted on a trial basis and is sub ject to a student survey sometime next week. It used to be that the only people getting food, especially at lunch time, was the huge, aggressive, elbower, who pushed his way into the front, grabbed the cashier by the throat and demanded food. The naturally timid person would find himself waiting for hours just to purchase a simple sandwich. Upon receiving this information from the State Attorney General's office, the Films Committee then tried to get the film, "I Am Curious (Blue)", but it is not available at this time. According to Brad Wyly, chair man of the Films Committee, the movie was shown in Columbia last year and the theatre owner was pro secuted. Although the film was booked in May, Grove Press, who owns the film, will not let it be shown in this judicial circuit.
