[abrrbaa~iiry iiers Since 197'1 Allman ba motorcyci Berry Oakley, bass guitar player of the Allman Brothers Band, died Saturday as a result of a motorcycle accident near the spot where Duane Allman was killed a little overa year ago. Oakley's motorcycle collided with the side of a transit bus in the 2700 block of Napier Avenue in Macon, Georgia. He was taken to Macon Medical Center, the same hospital Allman was taken to, but refused treatment and was released. Oakley went home, complained of dizziness and went back to the hos pital. According to Macon police, he died in the emergency room of Macon Medical Center approx imately an hour after he was admitted the second time. Police said he died of brain dam age. Oakley is the second member of the The Allman Brothers Band to die in a motorcycle accident. On Friday, October 30, 1971, Duane Allman, leader of the band, was killed when the motorcycle he was operating collided with the back of a truck in Macon. He died on the operating table at Macon Medical Center several hours after he was admitted. Surviving members of the band are: Gregory L. Allman, Dicky Betts, Jai Johanny Johanson, and Butch Trucks. Esquire Magazine recently called The Allman Brothers Band, "the heaviest band in the U.S." because of their "no bullshit" approach to music. The Allman Brothers Band was Scottish plaid tr.
