Scroggins, dean of the University of South Carolina College of Journalism, is new 1973 75 national president of Kappa Tau Alpha, journalism scholarship soci ety. Scroggins, a former national vice president of the organization, was elected by advisers of the nearly 60 KTA chapters in the nation. The society was founded in 1910 to honor journalism students who rank in the top 10% of their classes. Scroggins, a native of Dadeville, Ala., came to USC as dean in 1965 from the University of South Florida, Tampa, where he served as publications adviser and chairman of the journalism program. A former president of the accredited Schools of Journalism, the American Association of Schools and Departments of Jour nalism, he is a member of the Coun- ? cil on Education for Journalism, the national accrediting organization for journalism education. He is chairman of the board of directors of the South Carolina Heart Association and president elect of the Columbia Advertising Club. He formerly was president of the Florida West Coast Chapter of Sigma Delta Chi, the national journalistic society and listed in "Who's Who in America."
