Game Frustrated Wake drops 7th straight BY STEVE PARKER Asst. Sports Editor Billed as the 'Frustration Bowl', Carolina's 35-3 conquest of Wake Forest Saturday night at Williams Brice Staduim was especially frus trating to those fans who enjoy watching two competent teams bat tle. While the game failed to offer any sense of competiveness to the Gamecock fans, it did offer a vic tory to those same fans in this 3-5 season in which victories seem to be at a premium. The Gamecock effort was quite satisfying at USC blended a mixture of some exciting individual plays and fine overall football to roll up their side of the score while stifling the Deacons. Conversely, Wake's play was so porous as to bring back memories of the inept Appalachian State squad which offered themselves to defeat some weeks earlier. Wake's output found them with just three points at game's conclu (See GAMECOCKS, Page 12, Column 1) SI SCH( CLA * Scholarship I monthly. The not-so Demon Deacons stretched their winless streak to six games, following a 26-20 win over Davidson in their season's opener. "It's the same old story for us. But that's been the story of our season," com mented Harper, moments after the game. It looked like the same old story for Carolina as they gave the ball away the first two times they had it. Had it not been for the total ina bility of Wake's offense to move the ball, as witnessed by their paltry 38 yards of total offense in the first half, Carolina could have been (See HARPER, Page 14, Column 3) Star BRIGHTON id 3n iamond. sd selects r finest gem ;ality diamonds. les to complement Sthe ArtCarved ring your love. rved Chine & Crystal 10 per cent Student discount Ltd.
