Members of the cast of "Dido and Aeneas" will present scenes from the play today and tomorrow in three women's residence halls. The cast will appear today at 4 p.m. in Simms, 5 p.m. in Columbia Hall and tomorrow at 5 p.m. in McClintock. The University Theatre production begins Wed nesday EMMANUAL HENSEN Emmanual Hensen will speak tomorrow night at 7:30 on "The Portrait of a Revolutionary In tellectual." Hensen, whose speech is sponsored by the Afro-American Lecture Series, will speak in Room 310, Russell House. DRUG SURVEY A third drug survey will be administered to all 10:10 a.m. freshman and junior level courses. This year also the survey will be given to a selected number of law and graduate courses meeting at that hour. USC coed national A Charlene Smith, of Saluda, S.C., was recently elected Regional Vice President of the Intercollegiate Association of Women Students. Smith is a rising sophomore majoring in elementary and secondary physical education at USC. She is treasurer of the Association of Women Students and is a past member of the AWS Executive Board. As Vice President of IAWS Region VIII, Smith will be responsible to schools in the states of North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Mississippi. Her duties will include corresponding with member and non-member schools concerning their local problems, attending the AWS State Conventions in her region, and sending out a newsletter every two weeks. At next year's national con. vention, to be held in Harrisburg Pennsylvania, she will chair th( meetings of her region. Edward Clark, English professor at Suffolk University, Boston, will present a talk on "Studying and Teaching Afro American Literature" Monday al USC. A graduate of Indiana University, Clark did his dissertation on the Indian-white relations portrayed in James Fennimore Cooper's "Leatherstocking Tales." DAY CAMP VOLUNTEERSNEEDED Bell Camp Summer Day Camp needs five volunteers to help with morning activity periods, five days a week for a minimum of six weeks this summer. The participating children, those from University families and from families in urban Columbia, will be offered activities such as swimming, boating, softball, basketball, soccer, archery, nature hiking and arts and crafts. Rainy day ac tivities will include visits to the planatarium, fire department, police station and movies in the Russell House. Each day will in clude three activity periods, about 45-60 minutes long. Volunteers will be needed from 8 to 12:30 p.m. each day, on a non-paying voluntary I basis. Training period for the counselors will be June 1-2. His subject will be "David Lloyd George and the Historians." The author of many books and articles on British history, Dr. Morgan is one of the ablest of the young historians of modern Britain. He is one of the recognized experts on the career of Lloyd George. The History Department welcomes all who are interested to attend this lecture. MILITARY BASE PROGRAMS USC's educational programs on five of the state's military bases has increased to a combined enrollment at 682 students, ac cording to USC Regional Campus officials. The largest programs now in operation are on the Shaw and Myrtle Beach Air Force Bases. These two bases have a combined enrollment of 506 students. Shaw Air Force Base is offering 30 courses this term, while the Myrtle Beach Base is offering ten. Programs are also being offered at the Marine Corps Air Station and the Parris Island Marine Base in Beaufort, and at Ft. Jackson in Columbia. Courses are scheduled for eight week terms at the military bases with classes meeting twice a week for two and a half hours. Super vision of the programs is handled by the USC Regional Campus Office with John Powers as coordinator. BUILDING PROJECT A meeting to discuss future building projects on campus - including the widening of Pickens Street - will be held April 24 in Capstone with Vice-President for Business Affairs Harold Brunton. Brunton will discuss develop ments with interested students. The hearings on the widening of Pickens Street, scheduled to take place over the Easter holidays, was postponed and will be re scheduled after this meeting. Time and location in Capstone will be announced later.
