He also has some new things, too. Among them a new publishing company, (Silver Fiddle), a new record material, (Dynaflex) and a new recording technique (Quadrasonic). Neil has another backup group, too. Crazy Horse was replaced by the Stray Gators, a steel guitar group. One of its members is Jack Nitzsche, the man who has arranged and produced for Neil since his first solo album. Other performers on "Harvest" is Rolling 1968. Most of the songs on "Harvest" are done with the Stray Gators but there is one that was recorded live at UCLA and two that were done with the London Symphony Or chestra. The strings and lone oboe point up his feelings of loneliness and regret. There is also a song against hard drugs, "The Needle and the Damage Done," which says in part "Every Junkie's like a setting -sun." And the South. Following close behind "Southern Man" is the song "Alabama" which in part, "Alabama You got the rest of the Union to help you along-What's going wrong?" It took Neil a long, long time to get this album out and he may have gone a little overboard with his self-indulgence. In this album he uses the styles from his past. From the Springfield, to CSNY, to his own albums. This album is 'truly a Harvest of Neil Young's style. It is an album that should be heard and owned.
