Manning is resting comfortably at the hospital although he "is feeling some pain." However, Manning said, "I feel 100 per cent better today than I did yesterday." The hernia was discovered almost 'ay accident. The Gamecocks underwent routine physical examinations before the' beginning of practice Oct. 5 and it was discovered the Manning had a slight hernia. "Luckily, I had the operation," Manning said, "because they (the doctors) found that the hernia was worse than they thought." The usual recovery period for the operation is six, eight or 10 weeks. Manning said that he would not have to go through a special program but that he "would have to take it easy." Manning said, "It is easy to reinjure yourself. I'll have to take it easy and not get in a hurry. I'll have to take care of myself." - The injury will not keep Manning off the floor too long.
