Review They see By BOB CRAFT Feature Editor When John and Carrie Carney opened up their first set in the Golden Spur last night, there were so few people present that the audience took turns giving John their names. John picked up his guitar and sat on a stool and his wife, Top 'pianists I Phillips and Renzulli, the vir tuoso American piano duo team will appear in concert at 8:00 p.m. Oct. 28 in the Campus Room of Capstone. The young artists have held a prominent position in America's leading piano teams since their 1964 debut in New York City. Currently, they are Artists in Residence at St. Ann's Episcopal School in Brooklyn Heights, New Warwicke Friday Dionne Warwicke will be here Friday night at the Coliseum. Tom DiFiglio, chairman of the committee, said Miss Warwicke brings an entire show with here including a jazz-soul group. Miss Warwicke has been awarded three gold albums, has headlined the 1968 Newport Jazz Festival Tour and is the only vocalist to ever be named Har vard's Hasty Pudding Club's "Woman of the Year." Their repertoire includes their own compositions as well as important works all but forgotten as a result of the 1900's trend to perform only elaborate transcriptions of com positions written for orchestra, opera or larger chamber en sembles. Tomorrow night they will be performing such works as "Variations on a Theme of Haydn," "Two Andalucian Dan ces" and "Fantasy for Two Pianos." Their program also will include some of their own com positions, "Two Conversations for Two Pianos" by Franco Renzulli and "Three Pieces for Two Left Hands," by Robert Phillips. The piano concert is sponsored by University Union Artist Series Committee. Students with IDs will be admitted free and tickets may be obtained in the Russell House. There was something, however, exceptional about the Carneys' performance. It was that they really seemed happy to be here and seemed to really want to sing for the folks that showed up.
