Robert Phillips and Franco Renzulli believe the two piano medium offers some of music literature's wealthiest repertoire. Individually and collec tively, the young artists have researched and continued to perform important works that have been forgotten. Critics on two continents continuously have praised the artists' unique and musically rewarding program. Robert Phillips has been the recipient of four consecutive ASCAP Young Composers Awards and his commissions include two scores for the San Francisco Ballet, the cantata "In the Beginning" for the New York Protestant Council and the musical score for SANE's film "Count Each Day." Franco Renzulli's "Two Pieces for Two Pianos" premiered at a Long Island concert during the 1965-66 season. Phillips and Renzulli's concert should prove to be on of the most outstanding events brought to the University this year. USC students with ID cards will be admitted free. Faust produces -synthetic rubies and sapphires for scientific research in his engineering laboratory. Faust specializes in the science of crystal growth and says USC is the only university in the Southeast offering courses in this field. Faust hopes to offer a course on the theory of crystal growth next semester. "Interest in crystal growth has been spurred mainly by manufacturers who need single crystal materials for transistors and rectifiers for use in computers, telephones, missiles, radios and televisions," Faust said.
