Letters. to the ed Ar Dear Mr. Beebe: This is in response to the articli "Birth control - evident factor' and the column "Abortion referra services," both of which appearei in the February 8 issue of The Gamecock. Somehow, I am no quite clear as to your intent Knowing that The Gamecoci usually assumes a liberal point o view, I find,it hard to Imagine tha yott would devote much space to ai article (not to mention an ad ditional column) which would downgrade abortions. However this is exactly what you ac complished with Jerry Calabrese's article and Bob Craft's column. Great jewelry! at havens gallery 2812 Dein St yperovm ntme h urn system. "I'm tired of paying those boys' parking tickets," he said. Vice-president Harried Blunton said that the increased rates are needed "bif we are ever going to pay L for that stadium." Blunton added that the parking garage, scheduled for completion in 1972, will be completed by 1975. "We are actually ahead of t schedule," he said. The management of the Russell House is respectfully reminded of that opera house fire disaster in France a few years ago. Unless there Is a plot in the air to execute all of the USC student body, I think the matter should be locked into. I would hate to see the management and their secretaries stuck on the fourth floor in the event of an emergency. H.R.S. SCHROEDER Mr. Hope Dear Mr. Beebe: Mr. Harry Hope's article of I"ebruary 15 entitled, "Mrs. Jones' diary", has exceeded any inanity this paper has published to date. Humor, (jest, ridicule), Is best expressed in a subtle restrained fashion. Byron Herbert wrote: Less at thine own things laugh; lest In the jest Thy persons share, and the conceit advance, Make not thy sport abuses; for the fly That feeds on dung Is colored Apparently Mr. Hopie is veieored thereby. .OE YARBOUGH OK, THAT'L BE SIX g to inX usually six years behind schedule." Meanwhile, cars continued to pile up on busy Spleen Street as the official count of all vehicles at the school numbers 17,960. Number of parking spaces is 722. Columbia city officials stated that they, too, would raise meter rates in accordance with the school's rate hike. "Inflation," said another of ficial." New rules for the Coliseum lot were also enacted. Beginning rade abol Even the statement itself - whether or not appropriate here is not factual. data is available that states these "emotional pangs," if they exist at all, cannot be totally erased. As for Bob Craft's column "Abortion referral services," again I am surprised at the tone. Why the melodramatic dialogure? And, as if that weren't enough, why the "bad boy" ending? It seems to me that' the subject of abortion calls for a more mature approach. As it is not my policy to criticize without offering an alternative, may I suggest a future article devoted to abortion. Let this ar ticle concern itself with facts- the explanation of available techniques and of the differeni types of clinics operating- all in a simple and explicit manner designed to better inform con cerned students.
