The idea of not being able to walk down -the street without constant worry of being attacked Is reason enough to take stronger measures toward this problem. The moving of the bus stop will not completely solve the problem. It is not always the people waiting for the bus. I am a mother of an 18-year-old freshman girl in Columbia Hall. You can imagine my concern for her safety. She has a night lab which requires her to be out after dark. Inconveniences caused by faculty and administrative needs for expedience continue for sheer lack of having them aired. Though the years spent at the University by graduate students most often exceed the number spent by un dergraduates we remain a remote but paradoxically a very prac ticable part of the University family. Let it be understood, the previous remarks not withstan ding, this column, under this writer's authorship, will not become a vehicle for contention or a lexicon of "how to do it" facts. It will presume to make reasonable commentary on events and problems of concern to graduate students (whether they are aware of them or not), and we see no reason why these columns should not be incidentally of interest to the entire academic community. ADAMS (an Incidental French major) Thievery Doar Miss Manning: Sunday a friend and I were in the basement of South Tower doing our laundry, and we had gone into a nearby room so I could read to her (she's blind). While we were there, someone stole my entire box of detergent. South Tower is supposed to be an honor dorm, and if someone was hard up for some laundry detergent, surely she could have taken enough to do her laundry and left me the rest. It was rather extreme to walk off with the whole box. A lot of fuss is made about, getting into an honor dorm; one has to have good grades and is "on one's honor" while residing in the dorm. It is sad that incidences like this occur where supposedly mature, intelligent and bonest people are residing.
