The Biddies had seven turnovers in dropping a 9-6 decision. "I was dissappointed in our overall performance," Powers said. "We made far too many mental mistakes, even for a fresh man team in their first game." On the other hand, the Biddie coach was high in his praise of the Bull-pups. "Citadel was very well prepared," Powers said. "They played extremely well. But we should have beaten them anyway. I did a poor job in preparation for the game." USC scored for the third time, ' the third time they got their hands I on the ball in the second half as Young coaxed the 'Cocks 50 yards C and to paydirt in just five plays. The Biddies o lost five of seven fumbles that they I committed, and turned the ball i over twice on costly interceptions. i Powers singled out linebacker Dana Carpenter, and defensive tackle Darrell Austin as having fine performances.
