Wishing to put joy into every,child's heart the jolly old man will visit classes at random Thursday, Dec. 18. Upon his en trance into the classroom, the class will be dismissed. To avoid hard feelings with the faculty, Santa Claus has requested that any professor giving a quiz on that day, contact him in care of the Sepcial Events Committee, University Union. "CAROLINA CARES" "Carolina Cares" - the Fresh man Class will be out to prove that V logan tonight as they knock on oors asking for donations to help needy families. Students interested in helping with the project have been asked to assemble in front of the Russell House at' 5 p.m. Buses will take students to four sections of Columbia to seek donations. They will be asking for canned goods, clothes and toys for the needy families. It will be held Sunday in the Russell House Cafeteria at 8 p.m. and admission will be $1.00. All proceeds will go to the Four Holes School in Ridgeville. The bands which will be featured include Wildfire, Freedom, Julius Cobb and Dawn. CAROLINA SCHOLARS The deadline for nominations for the University of South Carolina's "Carolina Scholars" program is Monday. Information concerning the scholarships is in the hands of high schools in the state. The first ten Carolina Scholars are now enrolled here as freshmen and the Educational Foundation announced previously that ten additional awards will be made to students entering in Fall 1970. The scholarships currently are worth $5,000 for four years of study at the University.
