South Carolina, Friday, May 2, 1969 Founded 1908 Senate Teach Students To 'Rate' Professors By FRED MONK News Editor How does your professor rate with you? Students may have a chance to answer this question, along with ev'eral others, as part of a ques tionnaire which will be used in I* SC': spring "teacher evalua tion." "This teacher evaluation is de signed to help both the professor and the student," said Chip Gallo way, who has headed the project. "All the information from the questionnaire will he confidential," Galloway noted, "and from this questionnaire we will be able to draw a confidential profile for vach teacher thac requests one." The profile will compare the 1-rofessors with others on campus. "The administration is in favor of this," Galloway said, "on th assumption that everything is con fidential." The matter will conic before the faculty meeting Wednesday an(] Galloway said he hoped the fac ulty would go along and provide class time for students to fill out the questionnaires. Galloway said that whether or not the faculty votes in favor of the project, the evaluation will take place. Also planned in conjunction with the teacher evaluation is a hand hook on courses offered. The handbook, which is sched uled for publication a week. prior to fall registration, will give a de scription of the course, professors teaching the course, evaluation of the course and other information such as the number of quizzes a professor gives.
