Eight rounds of debate began yesterday in the varsity division to decide the teams for the semi finals tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. The finals will begin at 2:30 and the novice tournament will be con cluded tonight. Representing Carolina in t h e varsity division are Mike Thomas I and Jimmy Bradford and in the novice division, J a m e s Pittman, Frank Brown, James Chitty and William Allen. Carolina debaters are assisting with the tournament which fea-1 tures schools on the Atlantic Coast from Miami to Boston and as far 1 west as Kentucky. USC plans to send a total of forty I seven senators and representatives. The State Student Legislature is a type of lobbying body for college students. It holds an annual con ference w%here hills are presented, S debated, and voted on by the col e lege representatives.
