P. Watson Bihari Chastain Livingstor Points Ot The next president of the Caro lina student body must face sonic demanding problems. As I see it, the most prominent of these prob lems may be listed as follows: I. Student government at Caro lina is inefficient, unrepresenta ti of student opinion and unclear in the defining of areas of respon Sibility. II. Faculty opposition to the Student Bill of Rights and Respon sibilities. III. Perennial problems with parking, food service, book store, athletic facilities available to stu dlents, registration, postal service andl( library hours. For these very significant p)rob lems, I propose the following solu tions: ELE C1 B. Watson Three Coec For Junior Junior class secretary candidates are Judi Bihari, Grace Chastain and Ann Coleman. Miss Bihari is an elementary education major from Columbia. A sophomore, she has been freshman senator, freshman cheerleader, ori entation counselor and sophomore AWk Coleman i Reveals it USC's I I. Structural Reorganization: In order to have better communica tion between the various levels and branches of Student Government, and more specifically between the individual student and Student Government, I think we should A. Set up a formal communica tions network between the various organizations in Student Govern ment to promote better under standing. This network would be impiemented through such organi zations as Pan-Hel, IFC, AWS, IDC, TMA, TGA, Married Stu dents Council and Student Bar As sociation. B. Expand the number of de partments within the cabinet and enlarge the number of positions under each dlepartment. r DAVID E Sophomoi Top Juni( Bob Albergotti and Pat Watson are the candidates for president of the junior class. Burt Roson and Butch Watson are opponents in the race for jun ior class vice president. Albergotti is a sophomore from Orangeburg. He is a transfer stu dent from Florida State Univer sity. His major is international studies. At Carolina Albergotti is a member of Sigma Chi social fra ternity. Recently installed as pres ts In Race Secretary counselor. She is a member of Chi Omega social sorority and Women's Recreation Association. She is secretary of the sopho more class. Miss Chaetain is from Williams ton. She is a sophomore majoring in broadcasting. She has been a Carolina Co quette, an AWS delegate and Zeta Tau Alpha social sorority pledge vice president. She has served as treasurer of Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honorary. Miss Coleman, a transfer from Converse College, was on the honor roll both semesters of her freshman year. She is sponsor chairman of Delta Delta Delta social sorority and Tri-Delt co-chairman of Derby Day. An elementary education major, Miss Coleman is from Pamplico. Platform, 3roblems C. Establish parallelism be tween the cabinet departments and senate committees in order t-> speed the communication between the executive and legislative branches of Student Government. D. Define the areas of responsi bilities within the Student Gov ernment in order to avoid duplica tion of action or, in some cases, no action at all. II. Direct contact with faculty members, and the generation of student. opinion in order to speed the passage of the Student Bill of Rtights and Responsibilities. Ill. He received the 1968 Most Outstanding Leader Award in pre season work-outs. Roson, of Oil City, Pa., is a sophomore majoring in economics. A member of Phi Delta Theta social fraternity, he serves on the Inter-Fraternity Council. Butch Watson is a pre-law ma jor from Moncks Corner. He is a sophomore and a member of the Pellowship of Christian Athletes and Baptist Student Union. He is also a member of Sigma Nu social fraternity. He was on the '66-'67 football squad.
