There is one group of very in terested Gamecock backers at the S. C. State Penitentiary who want to make their support formal. News Editor Over 2,450 freshmen are par ticipating in orientation this weeka on the USC campus, and more are expected to arrive before classes begin Monday. Dr. Rollin E. Godfrey, director of admissions a n d registration, said the number of freshmen en rolled for the 1967 fall semester was not a significant increase over last fall's enrollment of 2,434. In addition, 700 transfer stu dents from USC regional campuses and other colleges have reported for orientation. gr< Nine thousand applications for an admission were received from pros- nu pective freshmen a n d transfer foi students, Godfrey said. This was -- an increase of five or six per cent over last year's applications. Godfrey said the progress of - computer registration was "so far, so good. We had a power failure for two hours Tuesday, but every thing worked out in time." O. J. At the same time International Studies has expanded into the basement of Maxcy College, and the Psychology D)epartment has exp)anded into all of Barnwell. A net increase of 70 faculty members has created a need for more office space.
